The 4 C's of Diamonds: Cut Color Clarity Carat Weight
Carat Weight:
Diamonds are measured in carat weight. Each carat weight is divided into 100 points. A stone that is 1/2 carat in weight is also called a 50 pointer, 3/4 carat stone is called a 75 pointer.
| 3.00 | 2.50 | 2.00 | 1.75 | 1.50 | 1.00 |
.90 | .80 | .75 | .50 | .40 | .30 | .25 | .20 | .10 | .05 |
Most of our diamonds that are .40 carats and up are either GIA (Gemological Institute of America) or EGL (European Gemological Laboratory) certified. A grading report documents the 4-C's of the diamond. This is your guarantee of quality for that diamond. In our opinion, if you are buying a diamond .40 points or up, buy one that is GIA or EGL certified.
